Most excited about...

I’m most excited about seeing my 4th quarter report card. I know it’s alittle silly but it’s because my grades weren’t as good as I wanted them to be last quarter, so I decided to keep trying and start doing my best this quarter. I’m excited to see if I got any progress through out the quarter compared to my other progress reports or just to show myself I’m capable of getting good grades. I really can’t wait until the quarter is over so I can see my grades!! Especially how the first couple days of the quarter has been, I think I can really get 3’s and maybe even some 4’s!

Runaway (quarter 3)

My book is called “runaway” by wendeline van draanen. This book is fiction, this book was really good! Runaway had 250 pages and I finished the book in 3 days. The book is really interesting because it’s like she’s writing in a diary. She doesn’t write in it everyday but most of the time.

The “she” I am talking about name is holly. She’s 12 years old and she’s living with foster parents. She doesn’t really stay at homes for along time because they always give her back. The people she lives with don’t treat her nicely nor with care. They call her a bad girl because of her past (read to find out) but this overall is a good book.

While reading this I really did have many emotions because she’s 12 years old, a runaway, and she feels like no one cares. When I was 12 I hated being alone outside of my house. She would talk about her problems going on with other homeless people, how she felt, where she think she is. Holly’s experience being a runaway is an obstacle of emotions because you would think something will happen but if you keep reading it will be the exact opposite of what you were thinking. Holly ended finsfing a friend. She’s really important to the story!

I honestly recommend reading this book! It’s really good and fast to read if you get hooked onto it like I did.

Slice of life

For my slice of life I’m going to be telling you about something that happened yesterday 2-6-18.
It was a normal day at school except the student coming from Morton talking about the high school. But that day we were meeting counselors to show us our classes and talk about them, so the one counselor gave me my classes and my mouth dropped right in that moment. I got 2 honor classes!!! I was so happy and proud of myself. anyways that’s my slice of life!

Slice of life practice

For my slice of life I am going to be telling you about what happened today in excel. It was honestly so funny I don’t think I’m going to forget this moment! Anyways my friend Jackie p. and I were talking and she brought up someone she knew that has recently passed away so we started talking about our experiences with people we knew passing away. After we finished it got all quiet and awkward, so all of a sudden my other friend Ivan says “you know chickens can run without their heads” it was so funny I started laughing so hard.

One word

My one word is try.

My word is try because I actually want to start trying to get good grades, read more books, do my homework, and I just want to be a better person in general. I’ve been trying since the beginning of the year. But sometimes I just give up because I always get distracted or something wrong happens so I say what’s the point, so I’m trying to not be like that anymore.

I want to try and fix all my problems that I’ve been doing through lately. I’ve been giving up on so many things like school, getting closer with my family, writing, and just everything I used to love seems to be drifting away because I’m not trying in any of them. It’s really hard for me to know that I’m not putting any effort into things I love and cherish. So I’m going to try and change my ways and how I’ve been recently.

So I’m going to try and bond with my family again, try to do my homework all the time, try to write as much as I can because I love writing and it helps me calm down when something happens, and I’m going to try and be the best me there is. I know this is a little personal but I mean it’s the truth and I really want to try and change for the better no matter what might get in my way. My stepmom always told me I will never know what will happen if I never try and she’s right, so I’m going to try.

Booked (quarter 3)

My book was called “booked” by Kwame Alexander, the genre of the book is fiction. The book was really good! This book only has 314 pages but it’s in a poem form (just like solo). It only took me one day to finish it! I literally couldn’t put it down because I wanted to know what will happen next.

It was mainly about a kid namd Nicholas who loved soccer. His family had a strong bond and he was happy. But things started going down hill. He started getting bullied and something happened between him and his family (you have to read to find out). The book had a little bit of flirting in it because he liked this one girl. There’s more to the book that’s very interesting and exciting to read but I’m not trying to spoil it for you.

The book honestly made me mad, sad, and it took my breath away. There was so many ups and downs in this story it was crazy!! There was this one problem and right after they solved it here came another problem. The book in my opinion is really relatable. What I mean is he goes through some family problems which everyone has to go through once in their life,  he had some school problems (if you read the book you can see how the school problems are relatable), he also plays soccer and soccer is a really big deal to him just like it could be a big deal to others.

In the book what I found really interesting is the main character Nicholas uses huge words that you may not understand but don’t worry he puts the definition at the bottom of the page. The reason he understands and says big words is because his father made him read The Whole dictionary!!! That’s Insane but he did it. The book is really good, I recommend it all the way.

You may think it’s boring but I swear it’s not, Kwame Alexander is my favorite author! His books always get my attention no matter what. Anyeays who’s your favorite author? Do their books pull you in just like Kwame Alexander’s books do to me when I’m reading them?

Solo (quarter 2)

My book was called “Solo” by Kwame Alexander. I liked it a lot, It was a really good book. There was a lot of drama happening throughout the story. It was in a poem looking form but it was like a normal book, the same story, it goes smoothly, just like you’re reading a normal book. But it looks like a poem. There’s 457 pages in the book, but i think the reason it has so many pages is because it’s set up in a poem sort of way. But the book goes by really fast if you’re reading everyday. It took me about 1 or almost 2 weeks to finish it.

The book was about a boy he was 18 Years old his name is Blake. He grew up with a father who was a drug addict and a alcoholic, his mother passed away when he was little. So it was just him and his sister storm growing up. He has a girlfriend but something crazy happens, read to find out!!! Later in the book he finds out about a family secret, it’s a really big deal. It’s basically what makes the book so good. So if you want to find out that secret you’re going to have to read the book to find out. What makes the book so different from other is, you can relate to it. What I mean is your mother could’ve passed away when you were little or you had to grow up with an alcoholic as a father. It could be relatable to anyone, and that’s what makes me like it even more.

There’s a lot of drama throughout the book. But that’s what makes it so good. It makes you want to see what’s going to happen to Blake or to everyone else is the story. I really recommend it, especially if you like drama and poems. It’s easier to read too. There’s nothing really to say about the book, it’s just so good and it’s, just you need to read it to understand how good it is. For me I rate it a 10/10. It was that good and I’m really picky when it comes to reading books.

Also there’s a sad ending which you really need to know so you HAVE to read the book to find out.
